My First Day at College
My First Day at College
I still remember my first day of college as if it were yesterday—August 22, 2023. I woke up early, determined not to be late on such an important day. Though I was excited and happy, I was also filled with uncertainty about what the day would bring. Stepping into a new environment, surrounded by unfamiliar faces who would soon become my companions for the next three years, was both thrilling and daunting.
Arriving half an hour before my first lecture, I found a seat next to someone I didn’t know at the time—who has now become a good friend. I had little knowledge about the subjects, the curriculum, or how college learning would differ from school. Engaging in conversation with new people felt slightly awkward at first, but as the day progressed, I grew more comfortable. By the end of the day, I was even added to our class’s unofficial WhatsApp group.
During the orientation, I learned about the various clubs and societies in our college. There was also an induction session for Metamorphosis, the student body of our Department of Management, where we were introduced to different cells within the department and how we could join them. Later, I explored the campus with some of my newly made friends—we sampled the canteen food, checked out the sports facilities, and shared our stories of how we ended up at this college. It was fascinating to meet students from different states and backgrounds.
During lunch break, we gathered in the amphitheater, enjoying our time together. The day wasn’t particularly hectic; instead, we were given a general introduction to the subjects we would study throughout the semester. I also learned about the two major political parties in our college and how student elections function.
As the day came to an end, I said goodbye to my new acquaintances and left for my PG, carrying a mix of emotions—excitement, curiosity, and anticipation for the journey ahead.
